Cambodia has experienced limited development following the extremely destructive civil war, leaving people facing poverty in many dimensions; economic, health, social and spiritual.
WDO believes these issues need to be addressed together if communities are to grow wholistically.
WDOs program is divided into five main areas with specific purposes. In practice these different areas are often integrated together and staff cooperate to ensure activities coordinate well.
CORE GROUPS
WDO has established core groups in over 60 communities across Cambodia, which continue to grow. Core groups are made from local village members who work with church leaders and local authorities to stimulate and support development initiatives in their communities. The core group facilitates local participation in all development activities, based on each villages elected needs. WDO field staff spend time capacity building these groups, to then establish good relationships with the community, local authorities and stakeholders and as a result cohesively implement sustainable development in their own villages.
